TheThe Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP) is located approximately 10 miles west of the City of Paducah (population: 25,135) and 3.5 miles northeast of the town of Kevil in McCracken County, Kentucky.
The Plant is situated on 750 of 3,422 acres of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) property. The DOE leases the excess property to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife for the use of the "West Kentucky State Wildlife Management Area".
The "West Kentucky State Wildlife Management Area" (WKWMA) acts as a buffer surrounding the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
The DOE leases additional property surrounding the PGDP to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife for the WKWMA.
Heath Elementary, Middle School and High School (estimated enrollment: 1465) is located 2 miles southeast of the site.
McCracken County's population is approximately 65,864 with the majority of the population living within 15 miles of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
